(UNDATED) - The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services wants more Indiana seniors to sign-up for the prescription drug plan known as Part-D.
Secretary Mike Leavitt says more than 27-million Medicare recipients are taking advantage of discounted rates.
He says that is close to the 30-million goal for this first year it's being offered.
Leavitt says the state has done a good job promoting the drug plan. He says the average savings is 60%.
Medicare recipients can get more information on the prescription drug plan by going to the agency's website medicare.gov, or calling 1-800-Medicare. The deadline to enroll is May 15th.
