(INDIANAPOLIS) - “Be a tourist in your own hometown.” That was the slogan for a celebration in the State Capital Tuesday.
Representatives from Indianapolis-area museums, hotels and various businesses gathered in downtown Indianapolis to showcase what they have to offer.
Participating were the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Children's Museum of Indianapolis, Pacers, and Indianapolis Museum of Art, and others.
The idea is to help locals become well-informed "ambassadors" for the city's many tourism offerings.
The event was part of National Tourism Week. Tourism has an estimated economic impact of three-billion dollars on the local economy.
