(UNDATED) - The Indiana Department of Natural Resources’ Division of Water is holding a series of meetings to get input on possible changes to the flood control act.
The department has no changes in mind, but a legislative study committee may come up with some to present to the general assembly.
Some issues include raising fees to generate funds to help people move out of flood plains; standardizing criteria (different sized streams have different flooding standards, even though the damage is the same) and rules for rebuilding a home damaged by a flood.
