(INDIANAPOLIS) - State officials say it’s critical for people to take action themselves to prepare for a possible flu pandemic.
Homeland Security Director Eric Dietz says it's not realistic for the government to hand out preventive gear to every Hoosier.
He says most of the responsibility for handling a flu outbreak will fall to county health departments.
But he says the most important actions will be those of individuals: washing hands regularly, using a tissue to sneeze in, and stockpiling food in advance of an outbreak.
