(INDIANAPOLIS) - A new cholesterol test makes the process of testing for high LDL cholesterol quicker and more convenient.
Patients do not need to refrain from eating prior to the test, which can provide results in less than two minutes.
Bob Huffstodt, president of Polymer Technology Systems in Indianapolis, says the convenience of the new test allows doctors to counsel patients with high LDL on the spot, making them more likely to follow the advice they're given.
The American Heart Association says nearly 107-million Americans may be at risk for heart attack or stroke because of dangerously high cholesterol.
