(BLOOMINGTON) - The State Supreme Court has ruled against three Indiana University fraternities which tried to retroactively apply for property tax exemptions.
A four-to-one ruling says Pi Kappa Psi, Alpha Tau Omega and Sigma Chi will have to pay the state more than $110,000 in back taxes.
Chief Justice Randal Shepard says the fraternities' excuse that they were in a unique circumstance does not carry any legal weight.
