Prosecutors say that the 17-year-old Indiana highway sniper will be tried as an adult.
Zachariah Blanton is accused of a series of shootings that occured this past Sunday along Interstates 65 and 69 which resulted in the death of a New Albany man. Blanton is now being held in the Jackson County jail and faces multiple charges, including murder and attempted murder.
In a court appearance on Wednesday, Blanton pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. Officials are now searching his internet myspace.com page for clues as to what might have motivated the teen to shoot at vehicles from an overpass.
On his myspace page, Blanton writes that he enjoys hunting and is a welding major at the Muncie area career center.
Zachariah Blanton's grandmother, Patricia Blanton, was recently arrested on charges of obstruction of justice. She is accused of hiding the gun in the attic of her home. Police believe the weapon found in her home was used in the shooting.
