(UNDATED) - Statistics from the Indiana State Police show far fewer car-train crashes in 2006 than in recent years.
So far, just eight collisions have been reported statewide.
By contrast, more than 60 have been reported in each of the last two years.
What has not changed significantly is the number of fatalities.
Three people have been killed in 2006, compared to eight and four in 2004 and 2005, respectively.
