(COLUMBUS) - Columbus police say 16 one-hundred dollar bills recently passed at a Wal-Mart store are some of the most convincing fakes they’ve ever seen.
Police have no suspects in the counterfeiting case and say cashiers accepted the cash without a second thought.
The bills did not change color when marked with a special type of diagnostic ink and even include watermarks like real currency. Some do lack unique serial numbers and do not pass certain tests when held up to light.
Retailers are advised to be on the lookout.
