(UNDATED) - As the temperature cools down, one state agency is offering some tips to keep your heating bills down.
Officials with the Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counselor (OUCC) say the key is "weather proofing" your home, including new insulation, performing maintenance on the furnace, and taping up windows.
Officials also say keeping the thermostat down by a couple degrees and turning it off when you're not home are also money saving ideas.
Officials also recommend enrolling in a budget billing program that spreads energy costs equally throughout the year.
