(UNDATED) - Just a reminder, that deer are out migrating from the fields and woods to the roadways as the days begin to get shorter and darker earlier.
Many motorists are injured when they panic and swerve to miss a deer and lose control of their vehicles.
Police offer these tips: When possible, use high beam headlights to look for deer standing on the side of the roadway. Drivers should never panic. Sometimes its better to hit a deer than try and swerve and hit a utility pole or tree. Look for reflections from the deer's eyes. And where there is one deer more often there are others in the area. Be alert! Finally, buckle your seat belt and drive defensively.
