(UNDATED) - The Hoosier Faith and Health coalition supports a $1 increase in the State’s cigarette tax and the use of those funds for tobacco prevention programs.
Indiana Health Commissioner Dr. Judith Monroe spoke at an interfaith luncheon at Christ Church Cathedral on Monument Circle Wednesday.
Monroe says cigarette smoking causes damage not only to health but the economy as well.
Monroe adds the faith-based community is a perfect anti-smoking group because it crosses all social, racial and economic lines to get the message across.
