(NEW CASTLE) - A one-year agreement between Arizona and Indiana DOC will bring 1,260 Arizona medium security prisoners to the New Castle Correctional Facility over the next three-months.
Indiana DOC Commissioner J. David Donahue says the Arizona prisoners will be housed separately from Indiana prisoners. The Arizona prisoners will be placed in an area of the prison that has sat empty since being built in 2003.
The agreement will create 230 new jobs at the prison. The Arizona prisoners will be sent back to Arizona as Hoosier prisoners are sentenced.
