(INDIANAPOLIS) - Following the now week old tragedy at Virginia Tech, the Better Business Bureau is issuing a warning to people.
BBB officials say some will try to cash in on this through scams. Jennifer Kirchhoffer with the BBB says beware of appeals that evoke a lot of emotion, but don't give specifics as to where the money is going.
Kirchhoffer also says to give checks or money orders with a specific name on it, instead of cash. Kirchoffer also says to be careful about excessive pressure to donate on the spot.
