(EVANSTON) - A seven-year-old boy is dead of injuries he suffered when the ATV he was driving flipped over on his father’s Southern Indiana property.
The accident took place Sunday in Evanston, a small community about 35 miles east of Evansville.
Indiana Conservation Officer Kurt Souders says Charles Tuggle rode the four-wheeler into a ditch near his father's house.
The boy's father became concerned when he didn't see his son after 15 minutes. He later found the boy trapped beneath the ATV.
The boy was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police say the accident highlights the importance of using caution on all-terrain vehicles.
Children under the age of 14 must be under adult supervision while operating four-wheelers. Authorities also recommend taking riding courses to prevent accidents from taking place.
