(UNDATED) - This is National Boating Safety Week.
Officials say the two biggest problems are boaters who do not wear life jackets and those who drink too much. Both of these scenarios often end in drownings.
The Hoosier Sail and Power Squadron offers boating safety courses. Commander Russ Wahlers says boaters need to be certified to operate a boat and notes that those caught drunk behind the wheel can loose their drivers license. He says there should always be a designated driver.
