(NEW ALBANY) - The wife of a southern Indiana sheriff’s deputy gunned down by a 15-year-old boy is thanking the community for its support.
Floyd County Deputy Frank Denzinger died hours after he and his partner were shot Monday night. The boy fired a rifle from an upstairs window of his family's home as the officers spoke in the driveway with his mother.
Tara Denzinger says she and the couple's two-year-old daughter have received much support from friends and her husband's fellow officers. A funeral service for Denzinger is scheduled for Saturday morning at Floyd Central high school.
Deputy Joel White remains hospitalized in serious condition. The teen, Tyler Dumstorf, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
