(INDIANAPOLIS) - It’ll still be the home of the elephant ear and the deep-fried Twinkie, but the state fair is banning transfats in the cooking oil used to make them.
It's the first fair in the country to ban transfats.
KFC and Hardee's are among the restaurants which have ditched the oils, which increase LDL bad cholesterol and lower your ability to make HDL's, or good cholesterol.
The National Independent Concessionaires Association says most vendors have already made the switch anyway.
The fair opens August 8.
