(INDIANAPOLIS) - The weekend brought another proposal for resolving the property tax crisis—Governor Mitch Daniels wants to use 300-million dollars appropriated for rebates for direct credits.
A quicker route, he says, providing relief to homeowners this fall. The rebate checks wouldn't come until next year.
Angry taxpayers are making it clear that they want something done. State Representative David Orentlicher tells the Indianapolis Star he knows "people are frustrated and understandably so."
Orentlicher was shouted down as he tried to address demonstrators staging a "Black Sunday" protest outside the Statehouse and on Monument Circle.
