(MERRILVILLE) - A massive pile of sand at the edge of a residential subdivision in Jasper County is creating controversy.
About 95 residents from the Waters Edge subdivision in Wheatfield have signed a petition to have 10-thousand truckloads of the sand removed.
They say the pile has turned into a major eyesore two years after it was dredged from the site to create a six acre lake.
Contractor Karl Vankeppel reportedly missed a June 5th deadline to haul away the heap, prompting residents to take their case to the board of zoning appeals.
