(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Department of Local Government Finance (DLGF) announced today that it is nearing the end of its county-by-county review of property tax assessments.
Commissioner Cheryl Musgrave says assessments for 68 of Indiana's 92 counties have been reviewed and cleared. Nine additional counties were recently cleared. Those counties are Allen, Dekalb, Greene, Johnson, Kosciusko, Lake, Noble, Owen and St. Joseph.
Four counties will hold public hearings where officials will determine whether reassessment is necessary. Those counties are Crawford, Fulton, Jennings, and Spencer.
Four other counties have been given a directive to reassess property values. Those counties are Delaware, Gibson, Marion, and Posey.
Brown, Putnam, and Starke counties must still submit required data before the DLGF can begin analysis of assessments.
Additionally, the DLGF announced that statewide property tax information is now available on its website. The database now includes sales disclosures and assessment information.
Musgrave says the information can be used in the appeal process. The website is www.dlgf.in.gov
