(UNDATED) - The Indiana Toll Road is expanding its use of electronic tolling and that could lead to delays for those using the toll road for commuting and transporting goods.
ITR Concession Company says it will temporarily restrict various lanes at plazas while equipment is installed to allow for electronic tolling. Work is beginning in Portage, Valparaiso, Mishawaka and Bristol this week.
Following the completion of the enhancements, the plazas will offer 30 percent more traffic capacity to Indiana Toll Road travelers.
These upgrades are part of the overall plan to bring electronic toll collection and the benefits of Ez-Pass on the entire Indiana Toll Road.
