(INDIANAPOLIS) - A 30-year-old Indianapolis mom is under arrest after her children were rescued from a burning home over the weekend.
Lakiesha Hyde is facing two charges of neglect and an unrelated forgery count. Hyde's 7-year-old son and 9-year-old daughter are at Riley Hospital in critical condition. They are also in protective custody.
Hyde went to court to try to regain custody of her children and instead was taken into custody herself. She admitted she left the pair home alone to go pick up her boyfriend.
Police and firefighters pulled Hyde's children out of their home.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Her initial court appearance has not been scheduled yet.
