(WEST LAFAYETTE) - Purdue University police are still combing the community for a man who allegedly tried to abduct a student Tuesday morning.
Purdue spokeswoman Jeanne Norberg says no one has been arrested.
Police and university officials are asking potential witnesses to call with their tips. The man is described as heavyset, about 5-foot-10 to 5-foot-11, with reddish-brown hair, a goatee and tattoos on his arms. He was driving an older-model gold minivan and wearing a bluish-gray shirt and khaki shorts or pants.
Authorities say he tried to take the 20-year-old junior from behind and get her in the van while trying to disrobe her.
The alleged abduction attempt happened in the 1200 block of McCormick Road.
Anyone with information should call Purdue police at 494-8221.
