(LAPORTE) - A LaPorte bus driver and her assistant have resigned after a four-year-old girl was left alone on a school bus.
The assistant superintendent says neither the driver nor the assistant checked to make sure all students were off before leaving the bus at the transportation garage shortly after noon Monday. The driver and the assistant were not identified.
Crystl Lenz says her daughter, Haley, fell asleep on the bus Monday on her way to preschool. The girl woke up after the bus was parked and was spotted by another bus driver, who contacted her parents and took her to preschool.
