(UNDATED) - A state commission will discuss specific solutions to Indiana’s property tax system.
The State Tax and Fiscal Policy Commission is chaired by state Senator Luke Kenley (R-Noblesville). Kenley says two additional meetings will be held at which the group will discuss the possibility of the state assuming greater responsibility for the school general fund and property tax exemptions for senior citizens.
The commission will also discuss other possible solutions at the hearings scheduled at the Statehouse on October 1st and October 15th. Specific proposals for legislation will be discussed in November.
Kenley hopes the commission can file bills to be discussed and acted on in the 2008 legislative session.
