(CARMEL) - Funeral services are set for today for a Central Indiana soldier who died of injuries suffered during combat in Iraq.
Sergeant Gerald Cassidy of Westfield died September 21st while being treated for injuries he suffered during combat duties in Iraq. He was a member of the Indiana National Guard who had been called to active duty.
Cassidy was a graduate of Carmel High School and had attended IUPUI.
A full military funeral is set for 10 a.m. at Orchard Park Presbyterian Church in Carmel.
Governor Mitch Daniels will attend to present the Purple Heart to Cassidy's widow. He also leaves behind two small children.
