Spencer County Welcomes Visitors To Lincoln's Boyhood Home

Last updated on Tuesday, October 9, 2007

(SPENCER COUNTY) - The nation will celebrate Abraham Lincoln’s 200th birthday in 2009, but his boyhood home of Spencer County, Indiana, is gearing up now with its Lincoln-themed attractions and a series of new billboards to promote it all.

Lincoln sites located in Spencer County include the Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial, Lincoln Pioneer Village & Museum, Lincoln State Park, and The Lincoln Amphitheater.

In Spencer County, visitors can see a working farm and cabins typical of the structures where Lincoln lived, worked and learned.

"Lincoln's boyhood lessons and values are as relevant today as they were nearly 200 years ago," said Melissa Miller, Executive Director of the Spencer County Visitors Bureau. "We invite visitors to come here and trace the past of a man whose legacy is still forging the future."
