(LAFAYETTE) - The Tippecanoe County commissioners are considering leasing a vacant building and turning it into a juvenile jail.
The commissioners meet behind closed doors this afternoon to discuss the possibility of taking over the former Mailcode Mail-processing equipment factory.
The county now spends one-and-a-half-million dollars a year to send juvenile offenders elsewhere, though running its own detention center may cost more.
