(UNDATED) - The State Health Department is warning Hoosiers of the presence of two serious mosquito-borne illnesses in Indiana: West Nile Virus and Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE).
West Nile Virus has been reported in 24 counties, and EEE in seven counties.
The West Nile Virus and EEE are transmitted to humans by mosquitoes that have first bitten an infected bird.
State health officials reported three new human cases of the West Nile Virus, including two in Lake County and one in Marion County.
