(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indiana’s license branches kick off a 12-day food drive Tuesday.
The BMV will set up collection boxes for nonperishable food at its Indianapolis headquarters and all full-service branches.
Julio Alonso is president of the state food-bank network Feeding Indiana's Hungry. He says he's not sure how much to expect in donations, but says he was delighted when the state offered to help.
Alonso says people would probably donate more to food banks if they knew where to do so. He says collection boxes at the 140 BMV branches should solve that problem
The network will organize distribution of donated food to 11 food banks around the state.
