(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Indiana Court of Appeals says a man’s 18-year sentence for driving over and seriously injuring another man outside his estranged wife’s LaPorte home was not excessive.
Court documents say Juan Castro Senior hit Raymond Wawrzynski with his sport-utility vehicle and dragged him beneath the truck before crashing into a house. He then tried to back up and spun the SUV's tires on the victim's leg.
Castro had appealed his sentence on grounds that a LaPorte County judge improperly weighed factors when sentencing him.
