(MEROM) - One man is dead and another recovering from a gunshot wound to the head following an apparent domestic dispute in southwestern Sullivan County.
State police spokesman Joe Watts says 74-year-old Oscar Thompson, Sr. shot his son-in-law outside a residence in Merom before turning the gun on himself.
36-year-old Travis Beard returned to the home to get help from his wife. He was eventually airlifted to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for treatment. Watts says Beard is expected to survive.
Authorities declined to release a motive for the shooting.
