(UNDATED) - The Indiana State Police are offering advice to help keep drivers safe during the Thanksgiving travel season.
State police will ramp up enforcement efforts during the Thanksgiving week, especially focusing on dangerous driving problems such as speeding, drunk driving, reckless driving and disregarding traffic control signs and signals.
Additionally, the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division will be looking for trucks' log books, weight/size limit adherence, and no parking restrictions along interstates.
State police urge people to make sure they are well rested before heading out on Turkey Day trips, as well as to avoid tailgating and making sure everyone is buckled up. And, most importantly, if you've been drinking, don't drive.
Sergeant Anthony Emery of the state police says alcohol is a factor in 37% of accident fatalities in the State of Indiana.
