(INDIANAPOLIS) - The check isn’t quite in the mail, but it will be soon.
The state has sent Indiana's 92 counties 300-million dollars to be parceled out to taxpayers for the property-tax rebate checks called for in this year's budget.
The counties still have to calculate the amounts of individual checks. And counties undergoing second-try reassessments won't mail checks till their new tax bills are worked out.
1.6-million Hoosier homeowners are eligible for rebate checks, but any unpaid taxes will be taken out before the rebate is delivered.
