(INDIANAPOLIS) - Thousands flocked to Downtown Indianapolis to participate in a Veteran’s Day service and the annual parade.
The service kicked things off and included a lowering of the flag to half-staff, to commemorate the lives lost in the fight for freedom. Lieutenant Governor Becky Skillman thanked the veterans in the crowd for their service.
The ceremony also included a fly-over by the 38th Combat Aviation Brigade and the tolling of the bell from the U.S.S. Indianapolis for each major conflict.
For veterans on-hand, this day is an emotional one. Paul Fagin is a veteran and volunteers with the Indiana National Guard Reserve. Fagin says this day always brings a tear to his eye.
