(UNDATED) - Indiana Congressman Steve Buyer says “Julia dedicated her life to serving her fellow Hoosiers and the nation and she did so with great enthusiasm and vigor”
He says many members of Congress will attend Carson's funeral, including the entire Indiana delegation and probably Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.
Buyer said she could fight like an alleycat. "Anybody who estimated her did so at their peril." Said buyer, "she was unique in her ability to get things done and she was a fighter."
Governor Mitch Daniels says Carson was a ``true original'' and ``a lioness in causes she believed in.''
It will likely be at least two months before a replacement for Congresswoman Julia Carson is selected. It will be Indiana's first special election for a congressional seat in nearly 20 years.
