(CARBONDALE) - Prosecutors in Southern Illinois say they’re researching their options after a pathologist asked to testify in a murder trial reportedly has fled the country.
Doctor John A. Heidingsfelder of Evansville, Indiana, performed an autopsy and conducted other tests on Jennifer Curry, who was found dead in 2005 in West Frankfort.
Prosecutors say without Heidingsfelder's testimony there is no support for an official cause of death for Curry. Officials say the doctor fled two years ago.
