(INDIANAPOLIS) - Police records indicate the man who shot and killed a woman Friday at a Geist area gas station was serving a 1-year suspended prison sentence.
25-year-old Lavon Boyd chose his victim at random. He shot 49-year-old Holly Corey in the back as the stay-at-home mom paid for gas.
Shortly afterwards Boyd shot at and missed an off-duty secret service agent, then turned the gun on himself -- ending his own life.
Boyd had a history of mental illness dating back seven years. He also had a history with police including charges of theft, burglary and resisting law enforcement.
