(FORT WAYNE) - The state wants to reward you for making your home more energy efficient.
Lieutenant Governor Becky Skillman was in Fort Wayne to update the progress of the Hoosier Homegrown Energy Initiative. The program offers financial help for equipment upgrades.
The legislature earmarked a half-million dollars for the program, which began October 1st. So far, less than half the money has been awarded. The program ends when the money runs out.
Skillman says the average energy rebate is about $1,200 dollars. You can apply through the state's office of energy and defense development.
