(KOKOMO) - A Kokomo police officer investigating a disturbance call early Friday ended up at a local hospital after a fleeing suspect struck him with a vehicle.
Police say officer Jeramie Dodd responded to a disturbance call when a juvenile fled and jumped into a truck parked along the street. He appeared to comply when the officer drew his gun and ordered him to show his hands, but then accelerated toward the officer knocking him down and running over him before fleeing.
The 17 year-old juvenile was eventually brought to city hall by his father and is being held on preliminary charges of aggravated battery on a police officer and resisting law enforcement.
