(MARION) - Officials fear that a logjam in the Mississinewa River could break loose and damage nearby bridges.
Grant County Highway Superintendent David White says the jam in the river just east of downtown Marion could damage the supports for three county bridges and a bridge for Indiana 18 if it breaks loose.
Officials say the county doesn't have the authority or the needed 100,000 dollars to clear the debris on its own. That authority lies with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
But George Bowman of the DNR says there's no state funding in place for the work.
