(CARMEL) - We’re learning more about the three girls killed over the weekend in Carmel.
47-year-old Batul Abbas lost control of her van and it slid into a retaining pond. Abbas and her three daughters were trapped until dive teams came to their rescue.
The four all died as a result of their injuries, including hypothermia. Abbas' 14-year-old daughter Shaail was a freshman at Carmel High School. Eight-year-old Azmeh Abbas attended College Wood Elementary. The oldest daughter was a freshman at IUPUI.
Police say icy conditions probably played a role in the accident.
