(UNDATED) - If you see a larger than normal group of people driving around town today with their headlights on, no, you’re not crazy, today is “Lights On For Life” Day.
The Indiana Criminal Justice Institute is initiating this program to highlight the number of Hoosiers killed in drunk driving accidents every year.
Curtis Hill, who is the Chairman for the Governor's Council on Impaired and Dangerous Driving, says today is the day to show drivers that driving impaired is wrong.
The lights-on day is also a kick off to a so-called safety weekend where law enforcement agencies will be cracking down on drunk driving by using saturation patrols and sobriety checkpoints.
