(PERU) - A 9-year-old boy died Friday of injuries he suffered in a snowmobile accident near Peru.
The Miami County sheriff department reported that Zachary A. Correll, of Mexico, Indiana., was traveling northwest across a snow-covered field and lost control of the snowmobile, Correll went airborne and was ejected into a tree.
He was wearing a helmet, but police believe the adult-sized helmet flew off when he was thrown from the sled.
He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash of multiple trauma.
