(INDIANAPOLIS) - The RCA Dome hosted the 76th Infantry Brigade departure ceremony Wednesday afternoon.
The 3,400 Hoosier citizen soldiers, known as the Nighhawks, are shipping out to Fort Stewart, Georgia for further training--before going overseas in March.
Six Indiana congressman addressed the Indiana National Guardsmen. They also heard from Senator Richard G. Lugar and their commanders, including the Commander-In-Chief of the Indiana National Guard, Governor Mitch Daniels.
Congressman Dan Burton summed up the send-off celebration, saying it was all about saying thank you to the soldiers and their families.
The troops and their families filled half of the partitioned RCA Dome to say goodbye.
