(HAMMOND) - The U.S. District Court in Hammond will consider the applications of at least six federal convicts who want their prison time reduced for crack cocaine convictions.
The appeals follow a recent federal decision to loosen sentencing rules on crack offenses.
The guidelines announced last month could affect as many as 19,000 people nation-wide convicted of possession or distribution of crack.
