(FISHERS) - The Indiana Department of Homeland Security has awarded a $100,000 dollar grant to the Fishers fire department to enhance training capabilities for area firefighters.
The funds also will benefit the surrounding counties of Boone, Hancock, Hendricks, Johnson, Marion, Morgan and Shelby. It is expected that other counties will send personnel to train at the facility.
Indiana Dept. of Homeland Security Executive Director Eric Dietz says they're seeking the most effective, efficient and economical approach to fire training.
The grant will help fund additional storage, new classrooms and structures to simulate burning buildings and facilities to be searched.
