(EVANSVILLE) - Violent crime in Evansville fell by more than 3 percent last year compared to 2006.
Property crime, though, remained virtually static, according to preliminary statistics released Thursday by the Evansville police department.
The decline in violent crime was actually greater midway through the year. FBI statistics released this week show a 6.3 percent drop through June, but the raw numbers still ended the year down overall.
