(FORT WAYNE) - A new combined training academy for police, firefighters and paramedics has begun classes in Fort Wayne.
The Public Safety Academy of Northeast Indiana will coordinate training of emergency responders to help them work together better in the field. It'll also partner with Ivy Tech, Indiana Tech, Tri-State University, IPFW and the Fort Wayne community schools to offer classes in firefighting, criminal justice, and other public safety-related areas.
The academy opened for business with high school students from Fort Wayne'S Anthis Career Center attending a fire safety program.
